In 2006, French car manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroën expanded its presence in the Austrian town of Spillern by opening a central warehouse for Austria and eastern Europe. From here, the company supplies approximately 800 dealerships and workshops in Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia and southern Germany with replacement vehicle parts. The main challenge here is to supply a total of 15 logistics networks, each with their own warehouse processes.
A total of 53 electrically-powered forklift trucks ensure that this complex goods cycle is carried out with the required speed and precision. To guarantee that these vehicles have the lowest possible operating costs and maximum availability, PSA uses Selectiva Plus battery charging systems from Fronius. With innovative Active Inverter Technology, these systems allow a “gentle charging” of the battery, high energy efficiency, and a constant power throughout the entire charging process. A compact design and the highest safety standards complete their profile.
Fronius devices boast an efficiency level of up to 94%, which has already paid off for PSA since their introduction in 2012: the company has dramatically reduced its energy consumption during charging, while the service life of the costly forklift batteries is significantly higher, leading to further savings.
